I first saw this on Facebook when a friend posted about it. I was kind of intrigued so I asked what it was and how much would it cost.
#microblading for my Ireland-based client, visiting Manila for a few weeks before moving to Canada to finally be with her husband. ❤❤❤ #pmubymayonebakunawa #phibrowsmanila #phibrows #eyebrows #eyebrowcloning #eyebrowembroidery #eyebrowfeathering #eyebrowsonfleek #eyebrowsonpoint #eyebrowgamestrong #3dbrows #3deyebrows #3dembroidery #iwokeuplikethis #wakeupwithmakeup #kilayislife
Microblading is a hot topic nowadays in the beauty world. Many have spoken about how it gave them “freedom” from not having to worry about their eyebrows every time – is it the proper length, are my right and left eyebrows balanced and so on. Celebrities like Lena Dunham and Bella Thorne openly talk about their eyebrow transformations.
So what is eyebrow microblading? Permanent make-up specialist Laura Kay from Laura Kay London tells Cover Media that microblading is perhaps best described as a form of cosmetic tattooing or micro pigmentation performed with a very fine hand tool dipped in the chosen pigment, in order to mimic the appearance of very fine hair.
Does is hurt? Topical anesthesia is applied to the area to keep pain to a minimum, but like any other beauty procedure, there is some amount of pain involved. The procedure takes between 90 to 120 minutes.
Following the microblading session, clients are advised to keep their eyebrows dry for seven to 10 days as well as avoid sunbeds, saunas, extreme heat and direct sunlight for at least a week.
“Apply aftercare balm once a day with a clean cotton bud for the next seven days,” she explained. “They will be dark initially and then they may flake, you won’t see the truly healed color until four to six weeks later and they can fade up to 50 per cent. After four to six weeks you will need to go for a top-up appointment so any further balancing can be done.”
Microblading can last for a long time, depending on how the skin has held the color. It does fade over time, so clients are advised for a top up session after a year or 18 months to keep them looking good.
Are you up for an eyebrow makeover? I can’t, not for breastfeeding moms (I have the perfect excuse; I’m scared to get one).
